Promoting your business online can be challenging. With so much noise from competitors around the world, how do you stand out and convince potential customers that you’re right for them? Below, we’ve rounded up some of the reasons why visual content works…

Visual content is just as important as blogging

Although content marketing may commonly centre around a company blog and a weekly blogging schedule, adding some visual content to the mix makes sense. 37% of marketers told Social Media Examiner that visual content was the most important form of content for their business, second only to blogging (which measured in at 38%).

Video is dominating the market

Whether you’ve ignored it or embraced it, it’s difficult to get away from video content. According to research carried out by KPCB, videos will represent 74% of all internet traffic in 2017. Investing in a high-quality camera and creating informative and entertaining videos in-house is a great way of boosting engagement between brand and audience, but it can be an expensive way of marketing your business if you’re on a tight budget.

Brands are going Live

With the introduction of Facebook Live last year, and an array of other offerings on Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and Periscope, brands have jumped at the chance of putting their products in front of customers in a new and engaging way. Figures from Facebook suggest that social media users spend three times more time watching live videos than they do traditional videos – another sign that video content consumption is only on the up.

Sharing is caring

Blog posts are a great way of boosting organic traffic and providing your audience with new information or ideas – but visual content has more appeal when it comes to social media. A tweet with an image can receive up to 150% more retweets and engagement than those without, while an infographic is likely to be shared three times more than any other type of content. Attractive imagery, graphic design and animated content are some of the best ways of connecting with your audience and boosting your chances of engagement.

Your customers are on social media

With more than 500 million active users in 2016, Instagram is the platform of choice for many of the world’s most successful visual content marketers. It makes sense – you can connect with fans of your brand and share your products and services in the process. Good photography and the right filters are essential – make sure you show off your products in the best possible light and put them in everyday situations rather than a traditional press shoot.

It’s fun

Who said marketing had to be dull? Visual content marketing allows you to be creative, try out new things and portray your business in a new light. Experiment with photography, graphic design and video content and see what works best – there are no rights and wrongs.
