We have previously explained how vital blogging is to your company’s promotional efforts. However, what bears emphasis is the need to keep your blog attracting readers by preventing it growing stale. Vlogging – that is, blogging through posting videos – can inject some much-needed freshness, and here are some ways in which you can do it.
Post a video “slideshow” of still images
Showing a “slideshow” of static images, where each image automatically gives way to the next one after a specific number of seconds, might bring to mind business presentations using PowerPoint. However, don’t be so quick to dismiss the idea as stuffy or uninteresting.
In fact, among the most popular types of vlog posts are photo presentations lasting five minutes. Decide on a particular theme and add text to the images. An easy-to-overlook advantage of these videos is that they can require less cellular data – and, thus, time – to download than more sophisticated videos, making them better for on-the-move consumers to view relatively quickly.
Put an expert under the video spotlight
Getting one of your industry’s experts to feature in a blog post is always bound to excite. However, you could generate even more excitement by having that expert caught on film rather than simply asking them to provide some words for inclusion in a conventional text-based post.
On video, the expert could even come across as more authoritative. After all, when viewers can see and hear the interviewee right there, they will know that there has been no misquoting… provided, of course, that you haven’t misquoted in any text accompanying the video.
Post “how-to” videos
We have probably all been in situations where we have wanted to explain a method of doing something but know that this explaining could ultimately come to little… because we are talking through text or voice alone and this will hinder our efforts to set things out clearly.
Thankfully, with vlogging, you can avert this obstacle. If, for example, your company sells screen protectors for smartphones or tablets, you could post a video going through the stages of how to prepare that protector and then attach it to the display without unsightly air bubbles forming.
Whether you want to get started with vlogging or improve your current efforts, we have digital marketing experts who can help you along the way.
