Season’s greetings, everyone!
With Andy up to his eyes in festive business this week, he asked me if I might like to offer a Week In Review for this week. And, since this has been my first week as a part of the company, I was more than happy to oblige!
As was mentioned in Andy’s previous blog, I’m brand new to Jak Inc. I’ve stepped into the role of Business Development Manager, and one thing I aim to bring to the position is positivity.
I’ve been in and around the marketing industry for a long time, and I’ve always had a strong passion for people and customer service, but following a recent redundancy, I found myself having to make a real effort to keep positive.
One particular quote rings true:
“Your smile is your logo. Your personality is your business card. How you leave others feeling after having an experience with you becomes your trademark.”
I had a eureka moment.
I thought about all of the positive experiences I had shared with people, customers and colleagues. I thought about all of the times my customer service had been recommended. I thought about all of the strong relationships I had built through business connections.
I focused on these positives, and I used them to get myself back on my feet, and back in employment.
You might have seen Jak Inc’s advertisement for a Business Development Manager vacancy. This was a title I had worn in the past, and I was familiar with the brand from its days in my hometown of Darlington. I knew that they had a great reputation, a great image, and did great work.
Through their online presence alone, I saw the passion coming through.
I attended my interview with Andy Knowles, and was very excited to find myself sharing a room with somebody who matched my enthusiasm for business and life. A normal interview might last an hour, but this one lasted four and a half over two days.
Admittedly, it was a long time, but so many ideas were bounced around that I felt excited to step into the role before I had even been offered it!
I started at Jak Inc as Business Development Manager that same week, which has meant that I’ll have the remainder of 2015 to learn the ropes, and hit the ground running in 2016.
I’m pleased to say that in only my first week here, I’m astounded by the wealth of talent and vision in the business. There is a strong feeling of family in this building, and so clear to me that each employee is proud to work for Jak Inc. If I hadn’t arrived to the same smiling faces each and every morning this week, I’d have thought such team spirit was too good to be true.
Anyway, the future looks very positive for both myself and Jak Inc. I already can’t wait to dive into the role full on!
If you’d like to meet me personally, make your business shine through print and design, or discuss marketing, I’d love to hear from you. Drop me an email at c.taylor@jakinc.uk, and I’d love to have a chat.
Have a lovely Christmas, and a fantastic festive break!
