Merry Christmas!
Today’s is a festive Week In Review, and also my final blog for 2015. And what a year it’s been!
First of all, though, I must admit that I’m definitely feeling the pressure of competing with HRH Queen Elizabeth today, vying for the after dinner entertainment slot. I’m sure there’s no competition, though, as you can always record the Queen’s speech for later!
For those of us who have been in the office this week, it’s been a good time to wind down. The mood has been good and Christmassy, and there’s even been a few mince pies and other treats making the rounds, keeping festive spirits high.
Personally, I find that I look forward to Christmas more and more each year, especially as it’s an opportunity for some quality family time (which isn’t always easy, as they live all over the country). Getting together to watch Christmas films, play a few games, and fight over the last purple Quality Street is something I’m very fond of, and I hope I won’t be the only one enjoying such things while we have our time off work.
That isn’t to say that I won’t be looking forward to coming back to the office, though. In fact, I’ve come to think of the Jak team to be somewhat of a little family in itself.
Mind you, the music in the Jak office has been a bit questionable this week, and certainly not what you might expect in the run up to Christmas. Then again, the Christmas tunes have been playing since early November, so…
You can get to know your co-workers a lot better by paying attention to their musical preferences. For example, Alex (our Social Media Executive) has very eclectic taste, ranging from Noel Gallagher, to Simon & Garfunkel, to Glenn Miller, whereas Val and Sam are self-professed ‘Rock Chicks’. The sales team are partial to a few classic 80’s hits, and the design team will listen to just about whatever you can think of (so long as there is no Justin Bieber in the playlist)!
Suffice to say, there’s something for everyone in the Jak office.
I find that Christmas is also a great time to reflect on the greatest successes and greatest challenges of the year. We’ve seen it all in 2015, but we’ve learned from everything we do, and we’ve always come out on top. With an action plan for the year already in place, I can tell that 2016 is going to be an even better year.
Finally, a quick note about Christmas opening times. We’ll be closed for Boxing Day, but it’ll be business – almost – as usual from 29th December. We’ll be lightly staffed until Monday 4th January, and then everyone’s back in to hit the ground running in 2016!
Have a fantastic Christmas, a prosperous new year, and thank you for joining me in 2015.
Anything is possible,
Andy Knowles
