If you regularly visit particular blogs, you likely have one simple reason, above all, to do so: the content is always enjoyable to read. However, what led you to first read these blogs, before you even knew how good the content was? The graphics could have highly influenced you – even in a subtle manner that has eluded your conscious notice. Below, we suggest several reasons why.
Used consistently, graphics can develop brand awareness
With each blog you visit, you probably sense a consistent feeling or message; this is known as the blog’s brand. An individual who blogs about swimming might project the image of a professional, qualified and informative instructor, while a beauty blogger may adopt the classy demeanour of someone you could imagine writing for Vogue.
Graphics can feed into the development of blogs’ brands. So, that beauty blogger’s site could have a minimalist aesthetic, with expanses of simple white or black, to help build a pristine look, while the swimming blog could feature a background picture of a swimming pool. After all, if the blogger is educating you about swimming, they might want you to feel like you are actually at a pool!
You can appear more professional with the right graphics
Commanding respect can be easier when you carefully choose what graphics to put on your blog. We advise opting for images that are high-resolution, not blurry, and look modern, not outdated. We’ve probably all visited websites with graphics showing a logo that a big name company stopped using years ago, or a model of smartphone that was discontinued in the similarly distant past.
There is no shortage of online repositories offering images that are beautiful and well-shot but also free to use. Still, before using an image, look at the license to check which uses are permitted. You could find that the picture is not available for modification or commercial purposes.
Graphics can lead blog posts to be more readily shared on social media
Whenever you scan through the new content on your Facebook or Twitter feed, you probably more easily overlook those status updates or tweets that are merely text without any graphical illustration. That’s understandable when images, particularly distinctive ones, can catch the eye more immediately than blocks of text in a typeface that is widely used elsewhere on the site.
So, if you intend to promote your blog posts on social media, make sure that you always do so with images that can draw attention while faithfully reflecting what the posts are about.
Quite simply, many of us are visual creatures – so, we won’t always read text until we have first been lured in with an appealing image. That’s why, here at JAK Inc, we don’t disregard the visual element when we craft posts for our clients’ blogs. If you would like us to take this approach for your blog as well, please ring us on 0191 3882 698 or email us through sales@jakinc.uk.
